Symbolic value of "Vanitas", the painting

I think that the meaning behind this painting is, that when you go through life’s journey (walking cane) and all that you have (items and ornaments), all that you take part in (easel, suit of armour, musical instrument, sword), and how educated you are (thick books, quills, writing books), in the end everyone dies (skull and crossbones). In the right hand corner of the painting, there is a sort of throne, but it’s in the shadows, which also represents that in the end everyone dies the same. Finally, the final piece of symbolism, is that the painting itself, is called “Vanitas”, which is Latin for “Vanity”.
