Paris Motor Show 2010

I should have posted this earlier (:

"Paris Motor Show 2010

The 2010 Mondial de l'Automobile opens its doors to the public on 2 October, promising to be one of the biggest motor shows Paris has ever held.
By then you'll already know about everything the show has to offer, because it's on the press days (29-30 September) that the manufacturers show their new metal to the world for the first time.
We'll be reporting live from the show on those days, but there's really nothing like actually experiencing the bustle and excitement of a motor show for yourself. Here's everything you need to know about this year's event.
The cars
There's still plenty of time for surprises before the show starts, but we already know about a number of sensational debuts set for Paris.
Arguably at the head of the pack is Lamborghini's concept, which is likely to be called the Jota and previews the replacement for the flagship Murcielago. Ferrari will be there too, with a potential surprise, as will Bentley with the new Continental GT. Lotus will wrestle with the big boys for attention thanks to the sensational new Elite hybrid super coupé.
Some of the exciting 'real world' debuts include the new BMW X3, the Citroen C4, the Ford Focus ST, Hyundai ix20, updated Mazda2, Volvo V60 estate and the Range Rover Evoque.
On the concept front, there's the Renault DeZir, the Kia Pop city car, the Citroen Lacoste and the BMW Concept 6 Series Coupé - tantalisingly close to the production car.
The activities
It's not just cars vying for the attention of show-goers - a number of different aftermarket manufacturers will be there too. All kinds of companies, from tuning parts and accessory makers to electric charging point installers, will pitch a stand.
An entire hall will be dedicated to car history, with every manufacturer invited to display something in 'The Incredible Collection'. That's in Hall 8 of the Paris Expo, and will feature some of the most historic cars ever made.
For younger ones, Disney and the French Motorsport Federation (FFSA) have teamed up to provide mini go-karting, and there's an area set aside for kids to learn driving basics. The FFSA is putting on electric karting for 12-22-year-olds too.
And of course, there'll be plenty of places to buy car company merchandise and memorabilia. And food.
The practicalities
The Paris Expo is in Porte de Versailles, and is easy to get to regardless of your method of travel. The official Paris Motor Show website has directions whether you're travelling by plane, train or automobile. As ever, we suggest you plan every element well in advance, and buy all the necessary tickets before you go. Incidentally, Air France is offering discounted flights for show attendees. Get all the details on that and other methods of travel here:
With the show running between 2 and 17 October, there's plenty of time to get there, so if you can wait, we'd suggest going on one of the later dates. That way it'll be quieter, leaving you freer to roam about and look at what you want, when you want.
Tickets cost €12 (£10) for adults or half that for those aged between 10 and 18. Children under 10 go free, and there's a discount for students and for buying more than five tickets. The show is open 10am - 8pm apart from Thursdays, when it stays open until 10pm."

I will post more on the types of cars soon!
