Vdara hotel guests burnt by 'death rays'

"The design of a hotel in Las Vegas has resulted in bizarre consequences, leaving some guests with severe sun burns.
The powerful Nevada sun rays hurt some guests staying at the Vdara hotel after the beams were reflected from the concave-shaped glass building, creating an effect similar to that of a magnifying glass and affecting people situated in the swimming pool area.
The 'death rays' – as they were later branded by some hotel employees, even though the sun beams didn't actually cause anyone's death – were so hot and powerful that they also reportedly caused some plastic bags to melt.
The hotel's designers may have installed a high-tech film over the building's south-facing windows before any incidents were reported, but they have since had to come up with a temporary solution to avoid further trouble.
They have therefore placed large umbrellas by the hotel's pool to protect hotel guests – as well as any plastic bags lying around – and are currently working on finding a way to solve the problem altogether"
