New Ferrari SA APERTA for Paris

"Ferrari has unveiled the car that will star on its Paris Motor Show stand: the SA APERTA. It's essentially a convertible version of the 599 GTB.

An open-top 599 has long been rumoured, but the SA APERTA is a real surprise - not least because of the unusual name and the fact only 80 will be made.
If you want one, then you're out of luck, because they've all been sold already. Ferrari hasn't revealed how much each one will cost, but the figure is believed to be somewhere in the region of £340,000.
The first part of the name is in homage to Sergio and Andrea Pinninfarina, the grandson and son of Battista Farina. He founded the famous Pinninfarina design house that has crafted some of Ferrari's most iconic cars.
Pininfarina celebrated its 80th anniversary this year. In Italian, 'aperta' translates as 'opened'.
The car itself is more of a roadster than a full convertible. Ferrari says that its cloth roof is 'a light soft-top designed to be resorted to only if the weather gets particularly bad'.
Two aerodynamic fins rest on top of the rear buttress, behind the occupants, and the car sits lower than the standard 599 GTB coupé. It also has a shorter windscreen.
Power comes from a 670bhp V12 engine and Ferrari claims that the weight difference between this and the 599 is 'negligible', even though the chassis has been strengthened to cope with the loss of the roof.
We'll find out more on the car during its Paris Motor Show debut on Wednesday (September 29)."
